The Grande and other things

The past week was brutal but this weekend has been good. I really hope that the upcoming week is better.

Not much happened this past week other than work and fatigue. I worked at least two hours of overtime everynight. At least it will make for a good check.

Friday night I jammed with "House Music" but I only played about half the night due to being so tired.

Yesterday I went on a exploring/photographing expedition to the long abandoned Grande Ballroom in Detroit on Grand River and I-96. I had always read about the Grande as a kid but standing on the stage and looking out onto the dancefloor was really cool. Some of the artists who played there included The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, Cream, The Jefferson Airplane, Traffic, Moby Grape, Frank Zappa, The Byrds, and Jethro Tull among others. To be standing on the same stage as all of those people was incredibly surreal. I wish some of my pictures would have turned out better but I guess I can always go back. The building is in horrible shape. There are chunks of the ceiling that are long gone and others that are just waiting to come down.

I visited Aaron last night. We watched "Chappelle Show" and jammed for a couple minutes with Aaron playing his Epiphone acoustic stand up bass and I, my Martin D-15.

Today I am just relaxing, listening to the shortwave. I really want to do some recording but I don't think I am capable of doing any so I won't.
